July 28, 2015 – Tuesday – Little Current to Benjamin Islands – 14 statute miles traveled

We have learned that leaving early in the morning so we get to our next moorage early and have the rest of the day to enjoy the location worked well for us. We left at 0730 for McBean Harbor. After traversing Waubuno Channel and heading down Main Passage we decided to call Knot Home on the vhf to see where they were. They were in the Benjamin Islands and loved the anchorage so much they were staying another day. They talked us into poking our bow into their anchorage for a looksee. We liked what we saw so anchored in 10 feet of water with a 5:1 scope. By the time I had backed down the boat was in 19 feet of water.

The day was spend exploring with the dinghy, jumping off the back of the boat, reading and napping. The crew of Knot Home dropped by to talk and invited us to their boat for Happy Hour. We swam a couple more times and then headed over to talke to another couple on a looper boat that was also at the marina. Then it was time to visit with both couples aboard Knot Home and back to Sea To See for dinner.

About a half hour before sunset dinghies from many of the boats anchored in the bay all headed over to a rock formation in the west to wait and watch the sunset. We headed over there too and enjoyed the camaraderie while watching another beautiful sunset. As soon as the sun went down there was a flotilla of dinghies leaving the shore and heading back to their respective boats.

Dinghies lined up as people come to watch the sunset together.

The sunset we were all waiting to see. Everybody said it was better the night before.

We continue to read your postings and like hearing about all your adventures. Beautiful sunset! You will need to write a book when you are done! We had breakfast on Friday morning with our former Killarney neighbors. The people who bought our house still have never moved in! It’s been empty a year now. We have heard from a realtor friend that this is not uncommon among Chinese buyers. At least they are keeping up the outside and we understand that is not always the case.
Had a fun evening last night at a barbeque in the museum/park in Fife in celebration of the Fife High School 100 year anniversary. Certainly not the daily experiences that you are having but at least we are not just sitting at home. Blessings as you cruise.
