August 22, 2015 – Saturday – Holland to South Haven – 29.8 statute miles traveled

The wind had picked up yesterday afternoon and blew some of the night but there was another period of light winds in the morning. We were off by 0705 and back in the big lake by 0735. The wind had switched to the south so we found about three foot swells on our nose. This meant some spray and pitching but it wasn’t a bad ride and it seemed to settle through the morning hours. The last hour of our three hour run was reasonably comfortable.

We went up the Black River to the town of South Haven and moored at the Maritime Museum Municipal docks. These docks were the furthest up the river and just before a bridge that takes you to most of the town of Grand Haven so it had less wakes and was closer to things.

The rest of the day was spent putzing around, talking to other Loopers and enjoying the sun in a good breeze.
