The big activity of the day was to change the engine oil. This is not a task I look forward to but this time I was going to assemble and try out the pump and hoses I purchased at Harbor Freight weeks ago. All of the pieces went together and after priming the pump with a little oil it worked well in pulling the oil out of the oil pan. A hose had been installed from the oil pan drain previously and so all I had to do was screw the fitting on the end of that hose into the fitting I had purchased for the hose going to the pump. This sure made the job easier than last time when I had to hand pump, a very slow process.
The oil filter was changed, fuel filters checked and then the messy job of replacing the oil blankets under the engine was accomplished. I was proud of myself as this whole operation was done without dripping much oil on anything. While it was a greater challenge because of my messed up leg things went well.
In late afternoon the AGLCA Rendezvous began with introduction of “loopers in progress” and then dinner.
